Where our water comes from
We get our water trucked in from San Jose. The coast road is knarly..photos above of water trucks transporting our liquid gold. Because of the cost, time and effort we have come to realize the value of every drop. A truck load to Los Zacatitos is 800 pesos present exchange rate equivalent to $62 usd per load. The further out you live, the more it costs.
This is one of the many reasons we impress upon ourselves to have native vegitation. Unlike palm trees needing a lot of water to survive.
The past few years we wait until after the winter solstice 21 December to plant our garden...yes, water is one of the reasons. In addition, our experience is that the plants start thriving once the sun gets higher in the sky. See Our Garden page.
